Day 1: USA/Johannesburg, South Africa

Depart for your flight to Johannesburg via New York (JFK) or Washington, D.C. (Dulles) on South African Airways. Sit back, relax, and prepare for an exhilirating adventure.

Day 2: Johannesburg/Cape Town

When you arrive in Johannesburg, connect to a short domestic flight to Cape Town, where you’ll be met by an African Travel, Inc. representative and whisked away to your hotel. Spend the rest of your day unwinding.

Day 3: Cape Town

Your day begins with a cable car ride up to the summit of the legendary Table Mountain. Continue your day exploring the stunning Cape Peninsula. Wind your way along legendary Chapman’s Peak. Drive to the rocky seascapes of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Continue along the coast to the delightful penguin colony at Boulders Beach. This evening, meet Christo Brand, former prison guard of Robben Island and personal friend of Nelson Mandela. He’ll share the story of his life, upbringing and how he came to be a prison guard in Robben Island in 1978, where he first met Mandela.

Day 4: Cape Town

Today’s sojourn explores the nearby winelands. Learn all about the process of wine-making, from grape to goblet. Revel in the scenery — like the breathtaking views of the Paarl valley and the picturesque little village of Franschhoek, the gourmet capital of the Cape. Take a stroll through historic Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture, absorbing the quaintness of this lovely university town.

A trip to the winelands isn’t complete without a wine tasting, so a cellar tour and two tastings have been organized at different wine estates.

Day 5: Cape Town

Spend your day at leisure exploring world-class museums, markets and beaches. Later this evening, feel the heartbeat of Africa, as you embark on a taste safari from Cape Town to Timbuktu at GOLD Restaurant. Your evening starts with an interactive Djembe drumming session. Enjoy a soothing hand washing ceremony, followed by dinner, consisting of Cape Malay and African cuisine. Be captivated by the drummers, singers and graceful Mali Puppets as they dance around your table.

Day 6: Cape Town/Mpumalanga/Sabi Sands Game Reserve

With a short flight, you’ll be on your way to your safari adventure within a private reserve bordering the famous Kruger National Park. Settle in and soak
up the tranquility of the African bush before embarking on your late afternoon game drive.

Day 7: Sabi Sands Game Reserve

ust as the wildlife awakens, meet your expert safari ranger and hop aboard your open safari vehicle for a thrilling game drive. Photograph away as you spot the Big Five and other wildlife, found on the reserve. On your late afternoon drive, pause for a sundowner as the sun dips below the horizon.

Day 8: Sabi Sands Game Reserve

With your skilled ranger, explore the rarer sights and wonders of the bush during your game viewing activities today. Perhaps take a guided walk through the bush or arrange for a candle-lit alfresco dinner as the Southern Cross begins to twinkle.

Day 9: Sabi Sands Game Reserve/Mpumalanga/Johannesburg

Set out early on your final safari in search of those hard-to-spot cheetahs and the Big Five. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast and relax until it’s time to transfer to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival, you are transferred to your ideally located hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 10: Johannesburg, South Africa/Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Fly to spectacular Victoria Falls, hailed as one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders. Accompanied by knowledgeable, conservation-minded guides, explore Matetsi Private Game Reserve on foot, by vehicle and by boat. Enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 11: Victoria Falls

Matetsi Private Game Reserve offers the most exclusive game viewing experience in the Victoria Falls area. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives to find the private reserves wild inhabitants including buffalo, giraffe and elephant, just to name a few. This afternoon, experience the wonder of the mighty Victoria Falls, followed by high tea at a historic hotel.

Day 12: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe/Johannesburg, South Africa

After a delicious farewell breakfast, you are transferred to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight back to Johannesburg. Upon arrival, connect with your flight back to the United States. You may be leaving Africa behind, but you’ll return home with memories that will last forever. (B)
