This time of year often brings visions of snowy peaks, warm fireplaces, and steamy coffee mugs. That means that the winter ski season has arrived. As fun as skiing the snowy slopes is, what can make or break a ski vacation is often the resort at which you stay. After a day chock full of skiing, it’s important to come back to a resort that can make you feel comfortable. Today we highlight our picks for the top ski resorts in the world.

The Ritz-Carlton, Beaver Creek, Colorado. As you can imagine with The Ritz-Carlton name, luxury is to be had at this Beaver Creek Colorado resort. Thousands of acres of trails and terrain are nearby for all snow enthusiasts whether you like to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or snow tube. Novice and experienced skiers alike will appreciate coming back to the resort’s spa, which has 20,000 square-feet of treatment rooms, saunas, and work out facilities. The resort has several bars and restaurants for those who just want to stay in after a long day of hitting the slopes.

La Sivoliere, Courchevel, France. It’s hard to discuss the top skiing destinations and not mention the French Alps, where you’ll find La Sivoliere in Courchevel. This is a great resort if you want something a little more intimate. La Sivoliere is more of a ski lodge, as it has less than 50 rooms, including 19 suites and an apartment. Located along the Dou du Midi slope, guests can easily access the Les Trois Vallees lifts. Afterward, enjoy a dip in the jacuzzi or a drink in the hotel’s lounge, which includes a fireplace.

Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia. British Columbia has established itself as a paradise for winter outdoor enthusiasts. So much so that the recent winter Olympics were held there. At the forefront of skiing in British Columbia is Whistler Blackcomb, the largest ski resort in North America. The ski area comes out to over 8,000 acres and over 200 runs. I recommend staying in Whistler Village and at either the Pan Pacific Village Centre or Pan Pacific Mountainside, both of which represent the epitome of luxury in Whistler.
