Spain is easily one of my favorite destinations, and for good reason. Spain offers one of the most diverse cultures in Europe, from city life in Madrid and Barcelona to extraordinary cuisine in the Basque Country of Northern Spain. Spain has the best of all worlds with its unique terrain that includes tall peaks, rolling hills, vast plains, and beautiful coastline. Because Spain has so much to offer, there are a wide-variety of different tours available depending on your interests. Today I’m spotlighting some of Spain’s best tours.
Gaudi’s Barcelona. Like much of Europe, one of Spain’s most important draws for travelers is its unique artwork and architecture. This half-day tour introduces visitors to one of Spain’s most influential artists, Gaudi. The tour takes guests to several different sites, including his apartment building, which is famous for the rooftop chimneys that resemble medieval knights. One of his most famous works, the Church of the Sagrada Familia, wasn’t finished by Gaudi, but stands today as one of the most interesting churches in Barcelona.
Full-Day Barcelona Excursion. Plan for a full day out in Barcelona for this excursion. Located outside of Barcelona, this day trip takes visitors to the unique city of Gerona, a medieval city at the confluence of the rivers Ter, Onyar, Galligants, and Güell. The tour includes parts that are both guided and self-guided, with guided portions of the tour taking guests through the winding streets of the city and to the Cathedral of Gerona, which is famous for the 11th-century piece of needlework: “Tapestry of Creation.”
Madrid – Toledo Full-Day Excursion. This is another full-day tour in Spain, leaving from Madrid and going to Toledo. Toledo is an often-overlooked city in Spain, but is worth the visit, especially since it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its extensive heritage that features multiple cultures. The tour includes seeing some of the traditional architecture of Toledo, as well as an opportunity to experience the culture for yourself by dining for lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Shore Excursion to Gerona. If you want more than just a half-day in the Gerona area, then this is a great place to start. This day-trip takes guests to Palamos, one of the best beach areas in Spain. It’s popular for water sports that include sailing and windsurfing. This shore excursion takes visitors along some of Spain’s most beautiful coastline. If you love the beach, then this is the tour for you.
