What’s your dream vacation? If you’re like most people, it probably involves the beach or possibly being on a cruise on the open water of the sea. But how about combining the two? No, I’m not talking today about a cruise vacation, but something even better: A vacation aboard a private yacht in the Mediterranean.
If you like the idea of having large accommodations and your own itinerary on the sea, then a private yacht vacation might just be for you. Vacationing on a private yacht offers experiences you can’t have elsewhere, like on a cruise. First of all, you’re on your own schedule. While there can be a general route or itinerary, it’s really up to you to customize the trip as you like. Traveling via yacht feels kind of like it’s your own boat. You have more privacy and typically larger accommodations. Since it’s a private vacation, that means the service and hospitality are much more personalized.
The Mediterranean continues to grow as one of the hottest destinations in the world. With quaint beachside towns, secluded islands, beautiful beaches, and large seaside metros, it has the total package. Since it’s nearly enclosed by land, it features many different destinations that are great for stopping for anywhere from a half-day to soak up some sun on the beach to a weekend for dining, shopping, and exploring some of the larger seaside cities.
Some of the countries I recommend for stops include France, Italy, Spain, and Greece. For a true beach experience, I suggest stopping in Greece or some of the more remote islands in the Mediterranean that are only accessible by boat. However, some of the cities along the coastline are not to be missed. Spend a day or two in Ibiza Town if you want to experience European nightlife or want to do some shopping. One of the most popular destinations is Cinque Terre, which is a rugged portion of the Italian Riviera that features incredible scenery, but also has Italian food and wine.
One of the best things about your private yacht vacation is that it can be tailored to your interests. I recommend at least a five-day excursion. Think about your interests and the types of things you’re interested in. If you like to swim, snorkel, and dive, then choose a private yacht that will allow you to snorkel and dive from the yacht, rather than having to dock in a city and find a separate company.
